Natural gas leak reported in Gulfstream Avenue condo complex

As of 6:45 p.m. Friday, the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 were open. Ringling Causeway bridge lanes were also open, according to an update from the Sarasota Police Department posted to the SPD's X account.

A natural gas leak has been reported Friday afternoon at 1155 N. Gulfstream Ave., the location of The Vue condominiums. 

Sarasota County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene after a gas line was struck in the area. The call came in just before 4 p.m. Those in the area are asked to shelter in place. There are no reported injuries.

All southbound traffic on U.S. 41 from Fruitville Road toward the Ringling Bridge is blocked. Officers are on the scene for traffic control and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
