Giving Hunger the Blues returns to rock Southside Village

The event that once touted acts like The Allman Brothers Band’s Dan Toler and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson returns this Sunday, Nov. 8. 

Giving Hunger the Blues is welcomed back to the Southside Village for a day full of music and community. Proceeds and donations from the event will benefit Mayors’ Feed the Hungry and Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota County.

The event was originally established in 1995 by the Generoso Foundation. Founder and honorary chair George Generoso made the decision in 2014 to discontinue the event that has helped collect more than $1 million for the community. 

"When I decided to end it a lot of people were disappointed. It was part of their life for so long," Generoso said. "It’s a quality event and it’s unique in what we were doing."

This year the event returns with more than 10 acts to keep music lovers grooving into the night.  There will be a main

stage set up including acts like Kettle of Fish, Reverend Barry & Funktastic Soul Featuring the Helacious Horns and the Selvwyn Birchwood Band. 

A youth stage will feature budding artists The Savannah Brady Band, Drum Studio All Stars, The Jake Castro Band, and Allie & Jaime.
