APRIL FOOLS —

Are you obsessed with being tanned and toned? Do you wear your sunglasses while you dance into the night? Has there been a daiquiri named after you at Daiquiri Deck?

Then you may be perfect for the new reality TV show, “Siesta Shore.”

Because the cast of the Jersey Shore will be breaking up after its sixth season, MTV has decided to switch locations and film a spinoff show on Siesta Key.

“After we heard Siesta Key Beach was named the No. 1 beach in the country, we knew this was the place to be,” said an MTV television producer.

The original series, which premiered in 2009, followed eight housemates as they spent their summer on the Jersey Shore, Miami Beach and Italy. But the show’s execs say there is plenty of filming opportunities right here in our own backyard.

Unlike Jersey Shore, which received flack for not casting stars from New Jersey, where it was filmed, MTV is hoping to cast straight from the area for its newest reality show.

Because cast members are required to have a job while filming, show producers are also looking for companies willing to hire the crew for five months. Filming will start in November and end in March. Job options for the crew could include dog walkers, ice cream shop employees or surf shop employees.

“We heard the busy season on Siesta Key is awesome!” said an MTV intern serving as a spokesperson. “This show is going to be the best ever!”

The series’ popular catchphrase, “GTL” — gym, tan, laundry — will remain “GTL” — gazebo, tennis, lounging.

Casting will begin April 1 and be open until the end of the month. Email your applications to [email protected], and include the top five reasons why you should make the show.

“The more the merrier,” said a Sarasota County official about the tourism boost.
