Now that the Sarasota County Commission approved the amendment to allow outdoor displays in Siesta Key Village, retailers need to get their permits.
The amendment was approved at the commission's Tuesday, Oct. 21 meeting.
John Lally, Sarasota County code enforcement officer for Siesta Key, said at the Siesta Key Village Association meeting Tuesday, Nov. 4, that he would be giving all the Village businesses packets about the new amendment and what they had to do.
Starting today, businesses have 30 days to get their $25 annual temporary use permit, he said, adding that the county would issue the permit within three to five days of receiving the application. The permit lasts one year.
“There’s going to be procrastinators,” Lally said. “I’m trying to help them get in on time.”
Even with a permit, if a business is found in violation of the stipulations set in the ordinance for its displays two times, its permit will be revoked until the following year.
