The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.

Senior center midfielder Kaitlyn Kerrigan scored three goals Nov. 23, propelling the Lakewood Ranch High girls soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Southeast. Kerrigan followed up her hat trick with a goal against Clearwater Central Catholic Nov. 24. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week:

What do you enjoy the most about playing soccer?
I really love all aspects of it. I’ve been playing soccer for so long that I can’t imagine not playing. I come to practice every day and go to games — it’s just a part of my everyday life. I honestly don’t know what I would do without it.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I’m hoping to go into physical therapy and hopefully work for an orthopedic surgeon. I’m hoping to work with people involved in sports because I know I can’t be involved in sports my whole life.

What is your favorite movie?

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” with Jim Carrey. I think I know every single line. I know it’s supposed to be a Christmas movie, but I could watch it every day and still think it was funny.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I’ve always wanted to go to Australia. They’ve got pretty cool accents, and they’re still kind of Americanized, so I wouldn’t be totally out of my element. They’ve also got a lot of weird animals and different landmarks that I think would be interesting to see.

Do you have any siblings?

I have two sisters. Nikki is a sophomore at Lakewood and Camryn is in sixth grade.

What was your favorite TV show growing up?

“Boy Meets World.” At the time I was probably too young to understand what was going on, but I still thought it was funny.

What is your favorite subject?
English because I like to write.
