Ranch grapplers hit the mats

The Lakewood Ranch High Varsity wrestling team finished eighth at the Jerry Mita Invitational Dec. 12-13 at Pinellas Park High.

Kyle Riley-Hawkins won the Mustangs lone championship in the 189-pound weight class. Evan Dipsiner (103) finished second followed by Nick Schilson (140) and Blake Riley-Hawkins (112) who both finished fifth.

Lakewood’s JV wrestling team also hit the mats this past weekend. The Mustangs finished second behind Manatee in the eight-team dual competition at Clearwater Central Catholic Dec. 13.

Josh Alvarez (125), Anthony Annis (135), Bailey Seaver (140), Taryn Laws (171), Ryan Praizner (189) and Alex Richard (215) each went undefeated in the tournament.

Lakewood will return to action tomorrow night when the Mustangs play host to rival Braden River for a dual meet. JV wrestling will start at 5:30 p.m.
