Dec. 14
How do you spell relief?
1 p.m. — 800 block of South Palm Avenue. A man was trying to park his car, when he said his foot became tangled in the pedals. He was unable to brake, and the car crashed through a fence and came to rest against a building. There were no injuries, and because the accident happened on private property, no citation was issued.

When nature calls
7 p.m. — 100 block of North Creek Lane.
Suspicious Incident. A man was walking toward his house when he saw a figure run from his mailbox toward a neighbor’s home. The man examined his mailbox, and it appeared someone had relieved himself on it. The man said he was positive it was his neighbor who did it, although he only saw a silhouette. The man is a homeowners association president, and he said the neighbor had been harassing him because of his enforcement of association rules. The deputy talked to the neighbor, who denied urinating on the mailbox. No action was taken.

Sure, I’ll wait
7:25 p.m. — 8200 block of South Tamiami Trail.
A man who rode the bus to the mall asked the bus driver if he had time to quickly run into a store to take care of some employment business. The driver told the man that he would wait. The man left his backpack on the seat and ran in the store. About five minutes later, he returned to find the bus was gone. The man asked another bus driver to contact the first one. The first driver said there was someone on his bus carrying a backpack. That person got off the bus before the driver could ask whose backpack it was. The backpack contained a $900 laptop computer and $120 worth of other items.
