July 2
Pinocchio spotted in pickup
7:51 a.m. — 2500 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A woman with no valid driver’s license backed her tan pickup truck into oncoming traffic on Gulf of Mexico Drive. She told police she was having complications with a pregnancy and was trying to get to the hospital. Help was offered to her. But when she did not wish to be seen by paramedics, she was issued a criminal citation.

July 3
Delayed appointment
10:02 a.m. — 4400 block of GMD. Public Service. A woman called police to report that her son had left in her car the day before for a doctor’s appointment and never returned. Police found the son getting out of a taxicab in the parking lot. He told police he was up most of the night at a friend’s house and didn’t feel like he should have driven home.

Not that kind of open house
1:24 p.m. — 6200 block of GMD. Burglary. A Realtor called to report that she had left the front door of a home unlocked during an open house and the television was taken.

July 4
No dogs allowed
7:01 p.m. — 4800 block of GMD. Animal Nuisance. An apologetic woman was unaware that her two small dogs were not allowed to walk on the beach and returned to her resort room.

With friends like that …
8:26 p.m. — 5800 block of GMD. Disturbance. A man called to report that when he asked a group of teenagers to watch their language around children in a resort pool, they gave him attitude. Police contacted the mother of some of the teens, who apologized for her children’s behavior. The mother sent her children’s friends home.

8:54 p.m. — 700 block of Broadway. Civil Disturbance. Police located a vehicle whose owner left a restaurant without paying his tab. The man told police that he may have forgotten to pay for the dinner he and his wife had just consumed. He was escorted back to the restaurant and paid the tab.
July 5

A woman scorned
9:53 p.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Disturbance. A man reported that his wife took off with his car, credit cards and some cash after he broke the news that she was no longer an account holder on any of his credit cards. He later decided he would take care of the matter without police help.

July 8
Something’s fishy
12:57 p.m. — 500 block of Spanish Drive South. The manager of a housing development reported that a resident was missing a fishing rod and reel and a pair of black swim goggles from his carport.

Life of the party
1:37 a.m. — 2500 block of GMD. Juvenile Acts. A woman reported that the occupants of a unit above her were on the lanai throwing trash and vomiting over the railing. When police arrived, a man grabbed a beer can and ran back inside. After knocking several times, police found the door was unlocked and joined the party. The owner of the unit promised to have his son clean up the mess he and his friends had made.

Bag snag
7:46 a.m. — Intersection of Palm Drive and Broadway. Suspicious Person. A woman reported a man who was sleeping on a bench later wandered into the woods with two bags. The man told police he sailed here from Key West with some friends but had gotten into a disagreement with them. He planned to take a bus to Crystal River, so police sped up his journey by dropping him off at the Coquina Beach bus station.

In a hurry
9:40 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD. Reckless Driving. Police pulled over a man after receiving a call that he was driving recklessly. The man admitted passing several vehicles but was not given a ticket because a violation was not observed. He was advised to slow down on wet roads.
