Throw ’em back
11:12 p.m. — 100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Fishing. Police caught a Bradenton man with a stone crab and four blue crabs in a bucket. Police made the man release the crabs and sent him home empty-handed.

June 12
Need for speed
12:05 p.m. — 1000 block of Bogey Lane. Traffic Violation. Police pulled a man over for driving 45 mph in Country Club Shores. The driver did not have a driver’s license and told police he “doesn’t have any papers.” Police told him he doesn’t have the right to drive.

Relative checks out
3:03 p.m. — 600 block of Lands End Drive. Welfare Check. A man asked police to check on his father, whom he said was drinking heavily. Upon arrival, police discovered the son talking to his father at the front door. The father agreed to talk to his son but did not want to grant permission to allow police officers into his home. Both parties were asked to call back if they needed further assistance.

June 13
Suspicious shortcut
4:18 a.m. — 6500 block of Gulfside Road. Trespassing. A man told police that three men and a woman trespassed across his rental-unit property and may have stolen something. The trespassers apologized for cutting across the property but nothing appeared to be missing.

June 14
Risky photo shoot
7:16 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. A photographer who was trespassing at the west end of North Shore Road with a swimsuit model told police he would relocate his photo shoot.

99 bottles of beer on the wall
7:52 p.m. — 100 block of GMD. Beverage Violation. Police discovered cans of beer on the fishing ramp under New Pass Bridge and told the fishermen that a town ordinance prohibits such action. Surprisingly, not one of the fishermen confessed to being the beer-can owner.

Permission granted
9:22 p.m. — 700 block of Norton Street. Suspicious Circumstance. Police discovered that a suspicious boat tied up to a dock belonged to the next-door neighbors. The neighbors advised they had permission to use the dock while the owners are out of town.

June 16
Don’t leave your belongings behind
1:09 p.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Larceny. A woman reported that someone swiped her pink bag full of sunscreen and keys to rental properties while she was near the entrance to the Broadway beach access.

All washed up
1:44 p.m. — 4200 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A woman called to report that a motorcycle driver became irate when she activated her windshield wipers and accidentally sprayed him. The woman was upset that the man pulled up alongside her and cursed at her in front of her children. Police pulled over the motorcycle driver and told him the woman had a right to wash her windshield. Police documented the case in the event the man had any more road-rage issues.

Boat swiped from dock
1:48 p.m. — 500 block of Gunwale Lane. Boat Theft. Police informed a woman in Colorado that someone stole her 30-foot boat from her Longboat Key dock by cutting a lock and lowering the boat into the water.

Hammer time
6:30 p.m. — 400 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police responded to a report of loud “jackhammer type” noises coming from another condominium unit. A man doing some renovation work in the home was advised of the town’s noise ordinance.

June 17
Keep your eyes on the road, not each other
1:09 p.m. — 5700 block of GMD. Reckless Driving. A woman told police that she thought a car was swerving all over the road because the couple “was fooling around.” The driver at first attributed the erratic driving to his foot getting stuck in the pedals. But he later confirmed what the woman suggested. The frisky couple was sent on their way.

June 18
What a trip
2:34 p.m. — 1900 block of Harbourside Drive. Rescue. Police confirmed from a drug store clerk that a man acting strangely had purchased four bottles of cough syrup in the last two days. The hallucinating man was transported to the hospital.
