April 25
Memory matters
2:20 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Missing Person. A woman told police that her boyfriend had gone for a late-night walk and must have gotten lost. Police searched the beach, only to discover that the intoxicated man had indeed gotten lost — in the condominium parking lot. The man could not remember in which building he was staying. Police pointed him in the right direction.

Mail truck milling around
6:26 p.m. — 500 block of Bowsprit Lane. Suspicious Vehicle. A woman told police that she saw what looked like an old, white mail truck just sitting in her neighborhood, with two men inside. She said one of the men was wearing a black ski cap. Police couldn’t locate the unconventional mail truck.

April 26
Sign thief close to home
3:52 p.m. — 5400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Missing Property. A man told police that someone stole the open-house signs he had placed near the intersection of Broadway and Gulf of Mexico Drive. Police believe that the town’s code-enforcement officer may have swiped the signs, because they were placed illegally. The man then realized the town takes its sign code pretty seriously.

April 28
While the cat’s away …
3:52 p.m. — 7000 block of Longboat Drive East. Animal Nuisance. A woman called to complain that her neighbor would soon be leaving for the summer. The complaint centered on the fact that the neighbor leaves her cats behind, and the bowls of food that are left out attract raccoons.
Police contacted the neighbor, who explained that she would be taking her cats with her this year. Although the complainant will be pleased, the local wildlife population will have to find food elsewhere.

April 29
Sitting by the dock of the bay
12:30 p.m. — 500 block of Dream Island Road. Trespassing. Police responded to a complaint of boats parked behind a property and decided that one of the boats had no right to dock there, but the other one could stay put.

April 30
Unidentified foreign object …
9:57 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Found Property. Members of the housekeeping staff turned in a bag of tobacco that was left behind to the front desk. But other employees identified the tobacco as marijuana and called police to dispose of it. The employees who identified the drug said they had never inhaled.
