Twenty-three Manatee County Public Schools seniors and 35 juniors will receive special recognition at the 23rd Annual Migrant Education Awards Ceremony at 7 p.m., tonight, at the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium, 1005 Barcarrota Blvd.

Always one of the most memorable events on the school calendar, the Migrant Education Awards Ceremony honors the students, and families of those students, who have participated in the district’s English for Speakers of Other Languages and migrant academic programs. The guest speaker at this year’s event will be Dr. Rubylinda Zickafoose, a former migrant student and current curriculum specialist for the district.

“This is a chance for us to recognize the extra efforts these students have had to make to earn their education,” said Kate Hoffman, coordinator of ESOL, Migrant and Immigrant Academic Services. “It’s also an opportunity to encourage the younger students to continue their educations.”
