Fake funds
3700 block of GMD. Soliciting. A woman reported that a 13-year-old boy who was asking for donations to help his school’s football team was a scam artist. She had called the school after giving the boy $5 and discovered the school wasn’t collecting any money.

Nov. 4
Copper caper
9:15 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Larceny. A man reported that someone stole approximately 70 feet of copper wire from an electrical connection by cutting it from a pump that was above ground while work was being done to the property.

Energy depletion
10:44 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Larceny. The safety manager of a resort reported that someone used hand tools to steal eight six-volt batteries worth $800 and a $250 battery charger from underneath the front seat of a golf cart.

Nov. 5
Waste not …
8:13 a.m. — 4400 block of Exeter Drive. Larceny. A woman reported that a neighbor who had his electricity shut off was using an extension cord to steal power from an outlet in the condominium hallway. The man admitted to stealing the power “to preserve his food,” because he had bought some groceries.

See anything suspicious?
11:06 a.m. — 700 block of Broadway. Lost or Stolen Property. A woman reported that when she and her husband walked away from their table for a moment at a restaurant, someone stole her $262 prescription eyeglasses.

Forgive and forget
11:56 a.m. — 3500 block of Fair Oaks Lane. Suspicious Circumstance. After a housekeeper called her boss to report that someone had broken into his home and stolen his Mercedes Benz, the homeowner called police to tell them to list his car as stolen and arrest his son for stealing the car. A short time later, the son called his father to explain that he borrowed the car to impress a girl. After the car was returned, all was forgiven.

Restraining order violation
1:07 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Harassing Phone Call. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend called her, which is a violation of the restraining order issued against him.

Nov. 8
Concerning conversation
6:21 p.m. — 6700 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A man told police that he saw two men in a Jeep drive buy his condominium unit and heard them talking about the “nice gold van” that his neighbors own. The man told police he thought the men “were casing the area.” The suspects could not be located.

Nov. 9
Signs of occupancy
9:49 a.m. — 2700 block of GMD. Camping. A town employee told police that someone was camping out at Bicentennial Park next to Town Hall after discovering a sleeping bag, newspapers and several empty beer cans lying in the bushes. The park habitant could not be located.

Mother’s instinct
1:06 p.m. — 6500 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A man told police that his mother came to his house uninvited and threw a cup of coffee at him, because she was upset that he was in the middle of getting a divorce and he had a girlfriend. The mother agreed to leave the house.

Beach chairs confiscated
3:08 p.m. — 6300 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police removed five beach chairs from the Gulfside Road beach access at the request of the code-enforcement department.

Nov. 10
Accidents do happen
3:44 p.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Broadway. Injury. A man told police that while riding his bicycle, he slipped off the edge of the sidewalk pavement, which caused him to slide off the handlebars and land on his head.
