Nov. 7
While the cat was away ...
3:28 p.m. — 6000 block of Murdock Avenue. Burglary. A woman, who watches her brother’s home when he is in Canada, visited the home and found the doors unlocked, the lights on, the smell of beer and a used toilet-paper roll. It appeared some people had broken into the house and held a party. There were several puddles of liquid on the floor, presumably beer. A cigarette butt was left on the patio, and a female intruder left a makeup bag in the bathroom and a personal item in the garage.

Nov. 9
Family jewels
Midnight — 1800 block of Caribbean Drive. Burglary. A woman discovered jewelry from the jewelry box in her bedroom was missing. The five pieces of jewelry were valued at $550. There were no signs of forced entry. The woman said there were several people who had access to her house, while work was being performed on it. However, she did not provide detectives with any names of the companies or their employees.

Muddy details
5:30 a.m. — 1 block of North Sandy Hook Road. Stolen Vehicle. A man walked out to his driveway in the morning and noticed his pickup truck had been stolen. He had left his wallet in the truck overnight; missing were his driver’s license, $100 cash, five credit cards, a bottle of prescription drugs and a package of Gummi Bears. Sheriff’s deputies found the truck 14 miles away, east of the interstate. It was covered in mud and had water damage. The mud was not confined to the outside of the truck. It was also on the driver’s floorboard and covered the prescription bottle, which had been emptied.

Nov. 10
‘Drunk as a skunk’
11:40 p.m. — Mall Drive and Superior Avenue. Driving Under the Influence. When a sheriff’s deputy pulled a woman over for suspicion of drunk driving, the suspect provided two clues that she was in fact inebriated. First — the deputy asked for the woman’s driver’s license. She handed him her debit card. Second — during a drunk-driving test in which she was asked to stand on one leg, the woman nearly fell over and told the deputy, “I’m drunk as a skunk.” Case closed.

Nov. 11
When nature calls
7:05 a.m. — 1300 block of Benjamin Franklin Drive. Suspicious Person. Complainant reported that a man and woman were nude and having sex on a bench near a nature preserve. They had been there for 25 minutes, but when an officer arrived, they were gone.

Fishy incident
12:22 p.m. — 1700 block of Arlington Street. Suspicious Incident. A woman told police that someone put dead fish in the shrubs next to the front door of a dentist’s office. The caller didn’t know who would have dumped the fish, but said it may have been someone who had their car towed from the property recently.

In for a shock
2:30 p.m. — 3300 block of South Osprey Avenue. Animal Nuisance. A caller reported that a dog had been constantly barking in an adjacent apartment. The caller told officers that the apartment in which the dog was housed also held the circuit breakers for the entire building and said he believed it was illegal for a dog to be in there.

Let’s tidy up the vault
6:58 p.m. — 1800 block of Main Street. Burglar Alarm. An unauthorized cleaning crew set off an alarm at a bank after hours.
