Mustangs dive past Pirates and Hurricanes

The Lakewood Ranch High swim team defeated Braden River and Manatee in its first home swim meet Oct. 5.

The Lady Mustangs scored 612 of a possible 1,328 points for first place. Braden River finished in second with 436 points and Manatee was third with 280 points. The Lakewood boys team was also victorious, scoring 500 of a possible 959 points. Manatee finished in second 372 points followed by Braden River with 60 points and Southeast with 27 points. 

Placing in the top three for Lakewood were: 

Girls 200 Medley Relay: Jessica Wopinski, Ashley Rademaker, Michelle Rushing and Shannon McCarthy-1st; Aubrey Riggens, Kaliegh Dean, Breanna Howell and Ariel Basden-3rd

Girls 200-yard Freestyle: Rademaker-1st; Wopinski-2nd; Kelsey Thomas-3rd

Boys 200 Freestyle: Ryan Stasiowski-2nd

Girls 200 Individual Medley: Reagan Sauer-1st; Bailey Holtry-2nd; Rushing-3rd

Boys 200IM: Alec Bacon-2nd; Richard Wheeler-3rd

Girls 50 Freestyle: McCarthy-1st; Gillian Vogel-3rd

Boys 50 Freestyle: Matt Polk-1st

Girls 100 Butterfly: Sauer-1st; Rushing-2nd

Boys 100 Butterfly: James Cascone-1st; Robert Hall-3rd

Girls 100 Freestyle: Alanna Ryder-3rd

Boys 400 Freestyle Relay: Thompson, Polk, Stasiowski and Cascone-1st

The Mustangs return to action Saturday morning at the Tri-County Meet at Selby Aquatic Center in Sarasota.
