Put it in writing
10:20 a.m. — 3000 block of Grand Bay Boulevard. Fraud. A man filled out a police report after explaining that he received letters from companies explaining that someone is trying to open accounts in his name using a different address.
Oct. 1
Too close for comfort
9:07 a.m. — 500 block of Harbourside Drive. Property Damage. A security guard said a truck pulling a trailer caused damage to the guard gate, when the trailer’s left tire struck a metal protection pole at the gate.
Closing early
Noon — 2100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Property Damage. A security guard reported that a truck bent the security gate as it was exiting the property. The driver of the truck admitted that the gate started to close as he left the area, and the left-rear tire hit the gate, causing it to bend.
Oct. 2
Ask for directions
7:23 a.m. — 4800 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. Police were not able to locate a homeless woman with a duffle bag who was reportedly walking through private property.
Oct. 3
Fenced in
9:24 a.m. — 500 block of Harbor Point Road. Public Service. A man called to report what he thought was an unsafe construction site. Upon arrival, police noted that the demolition site of a house had the required debris fence around the property.
Fight night
10:29 p.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road. Noise Disturbance. Police responded to a noise complaint and asked the homeowner to ask her guests to decrease the noise level. While the police officers were getting into their squad cars, they heard someone yell, “Fight!” Police found a man with a swollen left eye in the backyard who told police he had been jumped. The homeowner told police the man with the swollen eye had not been invited to the party and asked police to keep him off her property. He was given a ride to Bradenton.

Boating accident
4:39 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. A Bradenton man hit his head on the handlebars of his Jet Ski in Longboat Pass while trying to jump waves. He was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with a head injury.

Rescue relief
9:32 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Gulfside Road. Boat. Police responded to a report of an overturned boat in Sarasota Bay and discovered that the Coast Guard had already rescued the two people on board.
Key suspects
11:04 a.m. — 300 block of GMD. Lost Property. A man reported that a key he left for two construction workers had not been returned at the guard gate once they completed their work. The man said he would change the locks if the key was not recovered.
All the right moves
5:15 p.m. — 500 block of Spanish Drive South. Civil Disturbance. A man refused to pay a moving company the $1,237 balance he owed until the movers unloaded his furniture. But the movers refused to unload the truck until they knew the homeowner was going to pay the bill. The homeowner finally agreed to pay the bill while police stood by to monitor the unloading of the truck.
Oct. 7
Hide the keys
2:07 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and Bay Isles Road. Reckless Driving. Witnesses reported a man driving recklessly on and off Gulf of Mexico Drive. Upon arrival, police saw a man driving northbound in the grass near Gulf of Mexico Drive. Police then discovered that the 84-year-old man had Alzheimer’s disease and his license had been revoked indefinitely. Police contacted the man’s grandson and told the grandson to hide the car keys from his grandfather.
Fishy business
5:01 p.m. — 500 block of Schooner Lane. Larceny. A man reported that someone stole three fishing poles valued at $950 from the rear of his home. There were no suspects, and police have no leads.
