The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
LAKEWOOD RANCH
Oct. 6
1:23 a.m. — 5000 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Possession of marijuana. During a traffic stop investigation, a passenger was arrested for being in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver was released with a warning for the committed traffic infraction.
MYAKKA CITY
Reported Oct. 8
11:30 a.m. — 26000 block of 82nd Avenue East. Identity theft. The victim reported an unknown person has been using his Social Security number to gain employment.
PALM-AIRE
Oct. 8
10:25 a.m. — 5600 block of Country Club Way. Grand theft. Several employees observed the suspect, a former employee of Palm-Aire Country Club, in the parking lot of the country club. They stepped away from their utility cart for a short period of time and when they returned, the suspect was gone as well as a weed eater that had been in the back of the utility cart. Contact was made with the suspect at his residence, and the stolen weed eater was found in his vehicle. The lawn equipment was returned to the golf course superintendent, who did not wish to prosecute.
PERIDIA
Reported Oct. 7
3:05 p.m. — 4900 block of Peridia Boulevard. Information. The complainant stated that the suspect moved out and abandoned her dresser. The complainant threw out the dresser. The suspect keeps calling the complainant and asking for her property. The complainant wanted a report made for information purposes only.
SUMMERFIELD
Oct. 7
2:33 p.m. — 6600 block of Meandering Way. Aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. An unknown person in a black pickup with tinted windows attempted to run over the victim. The truck was six to eight feet into the victim’s yard. The victim stated he would be able to identify the driver and truck if he saw them again. The victim didn’t suffer any injuries.
OTHER
Oct. 6
8 a.m. — 3720 S.R. 70 E. (Braden River Dental). Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) smashed the rear passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle. Once the window was smashed, the person(s) reached in through the window to bypass the car alarm. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means. The vehicle has tinted windows, and at the time of the report, it did not appear as if any property had been stolen.
Oct. 7
9:30 a.m. — The northbound lane of Interstate 75 near mile marker 220. Grand theft. The victim was pulling his trailer down Interstate 75 when the trailer got a flat tire. The victim unloaded the trailer and disconnected it from his truck so he could get a tire. When the victim returned a couple hours later, the trailer was missing.
1:44 p.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Wal-Mart). Theft. The defendant reportedly removed an $89 camcorder from its box and concealed it in the pocket of his shorts. He walked past the cash register. Asset protection apprehended the defendant when he exited the store. He was arrested and transported to the Manatee County Jail.

10:26 a.m. — 6310 S.R. 70 E. (Taco Bell). Grand theft. The complainant witnessed the suspects taking a fence belonging to Taco Bell and asked them what they were doing. The suspects told her they were taking the old fence down for the restaurant and would be back to put up a new one.
