7:34 a.m. — 2000 block of Harbour Links Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A man reported someone trespassing at his neighbor’s residence. Police found a painter on the property who said he had been hired by the homeowner. The painter’s story checked out.
Brotherly brawl
7:37 a.m. — 500 block of Broadway. Disturbance. Police responded to a report of two men fighting in a condominium unit. A Bradenton Beach man told police he was having a loud argument with his brother, who lived on Longboat Key. The two agreed to either settle down or let Longboat Pass be the dividing line between them.
Teen flees scene
7:27 p.m. — 6700 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Suspicious Person. A woman told police that a teenager she saw hiding in the bushes fled on a bicycle when she approached him. Police couldn’t locate the teenager.

Sand search
8:37 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Lost Property. A man reported that he lost his $250 Seiko watch while playing tag football on the beach. He planned to retrace his steps on the beach to look for the watch.
Friendly reminder
10:32 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Trespassing. The manager of a local drug store alerted police that a man who had already been issued a trespass warning for his store was sitting outside. Police reminded the man about the trespass warning, and he said it would probably be a good idea to leave so he “didn’t get into any more trouble.”
Woman smells scam
3:29 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Fraud. A woman reported that someone pretending to be a representative of a bank needed her Social Security number because her account was overdrawn. The woman said she didn’t have an account with that bank and hung up.
No docking allowed
11:42 p.m. — Off the Key. Boat. The bridge tender for the Longboat Pass Bridge said a fishing boat was tied up to the fenders of the bridge. Police, however, saw that the boat was only anchored close to the bridge.

Leaving empty-handed
3:43 p.m. — 600 block of Norton Street. Burglary. A man reported that someone broke into his home by pulling the pins out of the hinge to a door located in the back of the house, which caused $100 worth of damage to the doorframe. No property was reported missing from the home, which was empty.

Wrong way
11:29 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Trespassing. A homeless man from Tennessee was told there is no camping on Longboat Key. He told police he got on the wrong bus and was given a ride to Sarasota.
Oct. 12
Double trouble
8:20 a.m. — 500 block of Cutter Lane. Vehicle Larceny. A woman reported that someone ransacked her unlocked Chevrolet, stealing a $129 iPod and two sets of rosary beads valued at $10 each.
Later that morning, a woman on the same street reported that someone entered her unlocked Mercedes Benz and stole a tan fanny pack that contained medicine and contact information. Police recovered the fanny pack near Gulf of Mexico Drive without a $50 EpiPen and a bottle of children’s Benadryl.
4:34 p.m. — 500 block of Schooner Lane. Vehicle Larceny. A woman reported that someone ransacked her husband’s unlocked Mercedes Benz, but didn’t steal anything. Her husband’s unlocked Ford pickup truck was also ransacked, and a spare key was taken from the center console.

Fishing captain corrals boats
10:20 a.m. — 400 block of GMD. Found Property. A local fishing guide reported two boats drifting in Zwicks Channel and secured them before reporting the incident to police.
