The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

GREENBROOK
 Aug. 26

4 p.m. — 13300 block of Swallowtail Drive. Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicles and stole the victim’s iPod out of a 2008 Toyota. The vehicle was dusted for prints.
7 p.m. — 6600 block of Coopers Hawk Court. Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s company vehicle and removed about $8,240 in property. The vehicle, which may have been unlocked overnight, was dusted for prints.
9 p.m. — 13200 block of Swallowtail Drive. Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the complainant’s vehicle and removed a pair of sunglasses, some loose change and miscellaneous paperwork. There were no signs of forced entry, and no latent prints were obtained.
10 p.m. — 6600 block of Coopers Hawk Court. Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) entered two of the victim’s vehicles, one of which was registered to his company. The complainant stated the only thing that appeared to be missing was a $100 owner’s manual from one of the vehicles.
 
MANDALAY
 Aug. 25

9 p.m. — 6100 46th Street East. Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the vehicle by smashing the rear window in the back after climbing onto the bed of the truck. Once inside, the person(s) removed a GPS system and then fled the scene. Several other vehicle burglaries were reported on the street.
9 p.m. — 4600 block of 61st Drive East. Vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the vehicle by smashing the rear window in the bed of the truck with an unknown object. Once inside, the person(s) removed a DVD player and then fled the scene. Several other vehicle burglaries were reported on the street.
 
SARASOTA
 Reported Aug. 26

5:10 p.m. — 3200 block of 79th Avenue East. Grand theft. The complainant alleged that her daughter, with the help of her boyfriend at the time, stole her ring and pawned it. The complainant did not see her take the ring, but said she believes it’s a possibility because they have had prior incidents. The ring was appraised at $1,000.
 
OTHER
 Sept. 6

11:55 p.m. — 14100 block of 11th Avenue Northeast. Burglary. After discovering several windows smashed at the home, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies set up surveillance. At 11:30 p.m., deputies saw Robert D. Copeland, 38, swim across the pond behind the home and enter the screen porch. Copeland was on the porch for several minutes when the alarm to the home activated. Copeland attempted to gain entry to the home by smashing a hole in one of the rear windows and sawing the glass open with a hand saw. Copeland ran off the porch and was apprehended by a deputy and his K-9. Copeland received a few lacerations to his right thigh from the K-9 and a few from the glass door he tried to enter. In an interview, Copeland stated he was attempting to steal televisions.

Aug. 26
1:45 p.m. — 5129 B 51st Street East (Hobby Market). Grand theft. A white male, entered the store, walked around and spoke to staff. The suspect, who claimed to be on his lunch break, was seen on video picking up a $600 model electric trac and walking out the door with it.
 
Aug. 27
11:30 p.m. — 5779 53rd Ave. E. (Poblanos). Burglary to a structure. Unknown person(s) entered the restaurant by breaking a window near the front doors. The person(s) then went into the manager’s office and opened it by breaking another window. The person(s) removed several items and then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.
 
Aug. 29
10:15 p.m. — 5201 33rd Street East (Sweetbay Supermarket). Burglary to a structure. Unknown person(s) cut the lock to the storage area and removed 10 tanks of propane. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.
