Sept. 4
You found what in the road?
1:17 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road. Found Property. A town employee turned in two ballasts, a pair of rubber work gloves and two electrical items that he found in the middle of Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Move it or lose it
11:08 p.m. — 600 block of Bayview Drive. Trespassing. A man called to report that someone was parking a large motor home on his vacant property. Police observed a motor home that was occupied by six people pull into the lot. The driver said he was visiting a resident that lives in the house next-door. He was issued a trespass warning and agreed to move his home on wheels.

Sept. 5
Fishing crisis averted
2:05 a.m. — Longboat Pass Bridge. Public Service. A fisherman reported that someone stole his tackle box, which contained his car keys, leaving him stranded on the bridge without access to his car. While police were talking to the man, two other fishermen returned to the bridge with the man’s tackle box, explaining they had picked it up by mistake.

Look before you leap
2:23 p.m. — 700 block of St. Judes Drive North. Rescue. Police helped a man who cut his leg on a boat propeller while he was jumping off the boat.

Thirst for a beverage
4:59 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. Firefighters reported a suspicious person lurking in the area. Police found a homeless man looking for a drink of water outside the front door of the Bayfront Park Recreation Center while a private party was being held inside. He was directed to the park’s water fountain for a drink and then left the island on a bus headed to Sarasota.

Sept. 6
We’re closed
12:30 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police saw five vehicles parked at Overlook Park after hours and discovered 12 fishermen under the bridge. When they were told they either had to leave the park or go to jail, they chose to leave the park.

Ride to resort
8:25 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD. Disturbance. A man called police to report that he was concerned about his wife, who was upset over family issues and had walked away. Police located the woman, who accepted a ride back to the resort at which she was staying with her husband.

Sept. 7
Drunk dialer caught red-handed
2:16 a.m. — 2400 block of Harbourside Drive. Public Drunkenness. Police responded to a 911 call and located a drunk man playing with his cell phone. He refused assistance and was warned not to call 911 unless he had an emergency.

Check him out
3:40 a.m. — 4000 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A convenience-store clerk called police to report that a man had been sitting in his car in the parking lot for a long time. A routine check of the man’s license plate revealed he had a suspended driver’s license. His driver’s license and tag were seized at the scene.

40 people, plus one officer, equals no ticket
4 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police responded to Overlook Park, where a group of 40 bar patrons had gathered after a night of drinking. Police cleared the park and gave out one citation, because a man was driving with an open container of alcohol.

This isn’t Daytona Beach …
11:23 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police responded to a complaint of vehicles in the beach and found two pickup trucks stuck in the sand up to their axles. The owners called a tow truck to get the trucks off the beach. Police issued a written warning for the violation.

Pulling the rug out …
12:09 p.m. — 1200 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A man called to report that he fired a contractor for not painting and removing old carpet in his mother’s home to his satisfaction. But the contactor, who had already been paid, had not returned eight Persian rugs valued at $80,000 that he placed in storage before he started the work.

Fenced in
3 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Trespassing. Police caught a man and a woman climbing over the fence blocking access to the closed North Shore Road beach access. They were told that a fence is meant to keep people out of the area.

Visible damage
7:41 p.m. — Off the Key. Property Damage. A man called to report that the car in front of him hit the curb on the Longboat Pass Bridge, causing him to get a flat tire. Police found the man changing his tire, and he admitted that he had gotten something in his eye and hit the curb.

Flight of fancy
1:09 p.m. — 500 block of Cutter Lane. Larceny. A man called to report that someone stole two pink flamingos out of the north side of his yard. The real head scratcher for police, however, is who would want to steal two plastic pink flamingos?
