The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.

Senior Katherine Pyne has been the most consistent player on the court for the Lakewood Ranch High girls tennis team so far this season. The Lady Mustangs co-captain has a perfect 13-0 singles record, leading Lakewood to a 10-4 record.

Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What do you enjoy the most about tennis?
I enjoy everything. I do it because I think it’s fun.

Which do you prefer singles or doubles?
I like doubles when there’s no pressure, but if I’m playing bad and missing shots, then I don’t like it. Overall, I like singles better.

Do you have any siblings?
I have three sisters: Lauren, Morgan and Kristin.

What do you like to do when you aren’t playing tennis?
I like to hang out with my sisters, go on bike rides, go to the beach, eat and play Ping-Pong.

What are your plans for next year?
I think I’m going to USF, and I’m going to be a lawyer.

What’s your favorite restaurant?
The Olive Garden. It has unlimited breadsticks.

What’s your favorite food?
Ice cream loaded with chocolate. I really like ice cream. I have to eat ice cream at least once a day.

What’s your favorite movie?
“Baby Mama.” It’s humorous, and it’s really easy to quote in everyday life. I think I quote that movie at least once a day.

What was your favorite cartoon when you were little?
Rocket Power

Do you have any pets?
I have a miniature American Eskimo named Jet. He’s named after the New York Jets because my family is really big football fans of the Jets.
