Real-estate sales reach four-year high

Sarasota property sales in March reached their highest level since December 2005, and the 753 home and condo sales were 56% higher than March 2009.

With 555 single-family homes and 194 condos sold last month, the Sarasota Association of Realtors is encouraged by the trend.

“Hopefully, the continuing growth in our nation’s economy will propel this market even higher this year,” said Erick Shumway, SAR president.

Single-family home sale prices in March rose 13% from the previous month and 11% from March 2009. The median sale price was $170,000. The median sale price for condos, $210,000, was up 24% from February and 26% higher than the previous year.
