The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.

Lakewood Ranch High sophomore Zack Larson hit two home runs, including a grand slam and finished with five RBIs in the Mustangs 15-4 victory over Manatee April 16, bringing his season home run total to three. The center fielder also went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs April 15, propelling Lakewood to a 13-1 victory over Dixie Hollins.

Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What do you enjoy the most about baseball?
The score can change at anytime. It’s never over.

How did you get into baseball?
I went to my grandparents house and threw a wiffle ball around in the backyard. I started playing T-ball and just started liking it from there.

Would you rather be in the field or at the plate?
Batting, so I can help my team out by producing runs and doing my job.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
A physical therapist or a sportscaster

What’s your favorite subject?
World history. It’s just interesting, and the baseball coach is the teacher.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a 9-year-old brother, Max, who is in third grade at Pinnacle Academy.

What’s your favorite movie?
“The Blind Side.” It’s just a good story about a kid who lived on the streets and became a professional football player.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
China. I just want to see what it’s like and whether it’s different or not.

What do you like to do when you aren’t playing sports?
Practice with my batting and pitching coaches, work out and hang out with my friends.
