Haile student wins regional Patriots Pen contest

An East County student has advanced in the VFW’s Patriots Pen contest.

Members of the VFW Post 12055 post selected Haile Middle School student Brianna McVaugh’s entry to advance to district competition, after she was named one of the organizations winners during the local competition in November.

McVaugh learned her essay won the District 10 competition earlier this month.

The Patriots Pen program is designed to foster patriotism by allowing students a chance to express their opinions on democracy.
