What started out as an extension of the annual Taste of the Nation event 15 years ago has morphed into a daylong festival called Giving Hunger the Blues — an all-day event that attracts more than 5,000 people committed to fighting hunger and protecting children.
In Sarasota County, one out of 10 neighbors is combating hunger every day — 33% are children. Giving Hunger the Blues has raised more than $700,000 to feed, protect and nurture the children in the Sarasota community, with all proceeds benefiting All Faiths Food Bank.
The event takes place from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Southside Village. Tickets are $5 for adults; children are free. For information, call 366-5555 or visit http://givinghungertheblues.org.
