The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
SARASOTA
July 28
1:06 a.m. — 3200 block of University Parkway. Battery. The victim and two other male subjects got into a verbal altercation. The manager asked the two male subjects to leave the restaurant. As the victim exited the restaurant to head home, both male subjects approached him. The three began to argue again. The victim stated the male subject, who was wearing a red shirt, struck him in the face during the argument. The two then began to fight. Restaurant employees broke up the fight between the two men. The victim stated after he fought that subject, he began to fight the other subject, who was wearing a white shirt. Employees also broke up that fight. Both subjects left the scene in their vehicles.
SUMMERFIELD
Reported July 27
1:45 p.m. — 11100 block of Marigold Drive. Fraudulent use of a debit card. The victim reported unknown suspect(s) used his closed debit card account number to purchase $2,877.61 in merchandise at various Florida locations. A report was filed with Achieva Credit Union, and the credit union filed a report with the FBI.
TARA
July 27
10:45 a.m. — 7400 block of Tara Preserve Lane. Trespassing. The complainant noticed a large garbage can was out of place and up against the security fence to the resident community pool. After reviewing the surveillance video, a white male suspect was observed moving the garbage can and using it to climb over the fence. Once inside, the suspect is seen disrobing and skinny-dipping in the hot tub for about an hour. The suspect also was seen using his cell phone to take pictures of the property. The fence was processed, and two lifts of latent prints were placed into the print box. The prints were taken from the same posts the suspect was witnessed grabbing onto in the video. There have been several incidents of burglary and criminal mischief to the golf cart area at the building next door. A color copy of the video will be burned and given to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
OTHER
July 27
6 p.m. — 800 block of Fairway Cove Lane. Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered a carport area in front of the residence and stole a golf cart. The person(s) then left the area in an unknown direction. At 2:09 p.m., July 28, the complainant reported she had recovered the stolen golf cart in the 9200 block of Winter Harbour Way. A deputy responded to the scene to do the recovery.
8 p.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Walmart). Burglary. Unknown suspect(s) approached a 2010 Ford Fusion, which was parked in the parking lot, and removed some baseball equipment from the trunk. The suspect(s) then fled in an unknown direction.
