The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
LAKEWOOD RANCH
July 17
8:20 a.m. — 11000 block of Hyacinth Place. Burglary to a vehicle. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took some spare change, CDs, DVDs and video games.
4:43 p.m. — 1700 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard (Publix). Retail theft (petit theft). A store manager stated a young male left the store and passed all points of sale without paying for a box of chicken and a box of doughnuts and ran from the store. A bagger stated he saw the kid leave, too, and recognized him from school. The suspect was positively identified from a DAVID photo and was arrested at his residence without incident.
THE MEADOWS
July 17
7:10 a.m. — 7300 block of Arrowhead Run. Auto burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle by unknown means and went through the glove box, the center console and the truck. Only change was reported missing. One other home on this street also reported having items stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
MILL CREEK
July 17
9 a.m. — 1000 block of 136th Street East. Stolen tag. The complainant reported an unknown person stole the tag from the leased vehicle he turned in. The vehicle went to auction, but the tag was not destroyed and is being used by an unauthorized person. The complainant has received notices from Orange County Expressway authorities of violations in the Orlando area related to this tag number.
RIVER CLUB
July 17
7:45 a.m. — 7600 block of Harrington Lane. Auto burglary. Unknown persons(s) entered the unlocked vehicle by opening the driver’s door. Once inside, the person(s) stole property.
8:07 a.m. — 1000 block of Laurel Valley Circle Avenue. Auto burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle through the driver’s door and went through the glove box and center console. The suspect(s) stole the victim’s iPod from the center console and the GPS from the glove box. The suspect(s) left the driver’s door open slightly.
8:57 a.m. — 9600 block of Governors Club Place. Vehicle burglaries. Unknown person(s) entered three unlocked vehicles and stole several items. An unknown runner dropped off a driver’s license and some papers they found, which were from one of the vehicles. Some of the papers were found on Cherry Hills Avenue Circle.
10:18 p.m. — 7500 block of Tori Way. Auto burglary. Unknown persons entered the unlocked vehicle and stole several items. The suspect went through the glove box and center console. The suspects left both doors open a little.
OTHER
July 16
5:48 p.m. — 5200 block of University Parkway (Kohl’s). Grant theft (retail). Three unknown black females entered the business and selected various items of clothing, which were estimated to cost about $1,000 in total. The suspects fled through the southern door and got into a silver vehicle, which was parked in the fire lane. The vehicle fled in an unknown direction.
July 17
4:31 p.m. — 2400 block of Lena Road (Advanced Communications). Grand theft of $20,000 to $100,000 and vehicle theft. The complainant reported unknown person(s) stole the company trailer and the Ditch Witch drill that was on the trailer sometime between 8 a.m., July 16 and 3 p.m., July 17. The trailer was valued at $4,000, while the drill was valued at $25,000.
July 18
9:35 p.m. — 8400 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Information. The victim reported a regular customer came in and her Shell card was denied, but she pumped gas anyway. The customer came in and tried to figure out with the clerk why the card was denied. After 10 minutes of discussion, the customer asked the victim if she could come back and give her the money later. The victim said that was OK because she was a regular customer. One-and-one-half hours later, the customer had not come back to pay her. The victim paid the bill to Shell and is hoping the customer repays her.
