Tom Selleck’s legendary mustache may have its own Facebook, MySpace and Twitter pages — but it ain’t got nothin’ on one Sarasota ’stache.

After more than 46 years of teaching at New College, David Schatz, professor of Russian language and literature, will retire at the end of this semester. Known for his kindness and generosity, Schatz, who sports his own beloved mustache, will be honored at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at New College.

New College students, professors and staff were invited to participate in the celebration by either growing their own ’stache or sponsoring a ’stache, with the funds benefiting All Faiths Food Bank.
