Pirates open season 2-1

The Braden River High boys basketball team opened its season with a pair of wins over Booker and Cardinal Mooney Nov. 29 and Dec. 2 before falling to Sarasota Dec. 3.

The Pirates defeated the Tornadoes 51-43. Trevon Young finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Tre Bryant added 13 points.

Braden River captured its second win of the season with a 57-54 overtime victory over Cardinal Mooney. Young finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the way for the Pirates. Bryant finished with 13 points followed by Javar Baity with nine points and seven rebounds and Tom Bernhardt with eight points, six rebounds and three assists.

Braden River concluded its first week of play with a 55-53 loss to Sarasota. Young finished with 14 points and eight rebounds and Bernhardt scored 14 points to lead the way for the Pirates. Bryant scored 10 points and Jess Casseus added nine points and five rebounds.
