The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
BRADEN PINES
Feb. 9
1 a.m. — 10800 block of Pinewood Circle. Armed vehicle burglary. Unknown person(s) smashed the rear slider window of the victim’s vehicle while it was parked in his driveway. Once inside, the person(s) disconnected a stereo receiver from the dashboard and two headrest monitors. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means. Several other burglaries occurred during the same time period in the same neighborhood.
COOPER CREEK
Feb. 8
3:30 p.m. — 8000 block of Cooper Creek Boulevard. Stolen trailer. The complainant parked his company trailer at the construction site. Unknown person(s) took the trailer and its contents and fled in an unknown direction.
GREENBROOK
Reported Feb. 9
2:08 p.m. — 15300 block of Skip Jack Loop. Fraudulent use of a credit card. The victim reported multiple fraudulent uses of her credit card. The total loss is $10,224.86.
GREYHAWK LANDING
Reported Feb. 8
10:42 a.m. — 12700 block of Kite Drive. Criminal mischief. Unknown person(s) chipped away about a two-inch piece of wood from the front door of the residence. The wood was chipped away near the deadbolt lock area, but entry into the home wasn’t made. Upon the responding deputy’s arrival, the area already had been patched and repaired. No physical evidence was found at the scene, and there are no known suspects. The owners of the home live in Tennessee and the complainant is doing work for the owners. The complainant reported the incident after a caretaker instructed him to do so. The estimated cost of the damage is $40.
RIVER CLUB
Reported Feb. 8
9:35 a.m. — 6215 River Club Blvd. (Braden River Middle). Petit theft. The student advised unknown subject(s) stole her cell phone and cash from her backpack. The backpack was lying under a bench in the girls locker room. The subject(s) then fled in an unknown direction. The cell phone has been disconnected.
SUMMERFIELD
Feb. 8
8 p.m. — 6600 block of Meandering Way. Vehicle burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s vehicle through an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspect(s) broke the lid to the change holder and stole it along with some loose change. The suspect(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.
OTHER
Reported Feb. 8
3:30 p.m. — 10200 block of Oak Run Drive. Grand theft. The complainant stated five buckets of tools were missing from inside of his garage. There were no signs of forced entry. The garage had been secured by dead bolts and screwed shut.
Feb. 8
4 p.m. — 15100 block of State Road 64 East. Grand theft. Unknown person(s) went into a drawer inside the business and removed $600 from the cash box. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means. The victim stated the suspect might have committed the crime because he was at the business at the time of the incident and is in need of money. The suspect was observed on the nursery’s property, but was not seen inside the business office.
Feb. 9
5:48 p.m. — 6225 S.R. 64 E (Wal-Mart). Petit theft. The defendant obtained a USB A/C adapter in the electronics department and proceeded to the toy aisle. The defendant opened the packaging, removed the device and placed it in his right front pant pocket. He then proceeded to the exit, passing all available opportunities to pay for the device while it was still concealed in his pant pocket. The defendant exited the store. Pre-Miranda, the defendant stated, “Yeah, I stole it.” Following his Miranda rights the defendant stated, “Man I told you I took it. It was a $19.95 A/C adapter for my computer. I’m just being real with you. I told you already I took it.”
