Dec. 11
Friend or foe?
9:05 p.m. — 400 block of Longboat Club Road. Suspicious Person. A condominium security officer called police to report a suspicious woman wandering in the parking lot. The woman told police she had gotten into a fight with a friend of hers at a neighboring complex and was on her way to the Inn on the Beach hotel to spend the night.

Dec. 12
Signs of burglary
5:07 p.m. — 700 block of Emerald Harbor Drive. Burglary Attempt. A man reported that someone attempted to break into his home by damaging the door frame of his enclosed pool cage, causing $100 worth of damage. Police believed the damage had occurred previously.

Dec. 15
Safe and secure
8:50 p.m. — 500 block of Kingfisher Lane. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported a suspicious pickup truck leaving the area. Police responded and could not find the truck but found an unlocked sliding-glass door at a nearby residence. Nothing was stolen and the house was secured.

Key to entry
11:21 p.m. — 700 block of Old Compass Road. Burglary. A housekeeper reported that someone broke into two homes she cleans and stole the keypads that were located on the alarm systems. Nothing was stolen from the homes.

Dec. 16
Alarm panels swiped
1:12 p.m. — 700 block of Emerald Harbor Drive. Burglary. A man reported that the home he was watching while the owners were out of town had alarm panels missing from the activation box. Nothing appeared to be missing from the home.

Television theft
7:16 p.m. — 700 block of Lands End Drive. Burglary. Someone broke into a woman’s house and stole a 40-inch flat-screen, high-definition television and remote valued at $1,200.

Dec. 17
Light sleeper
7:47 a.m. — 2000 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A man became agitated after his condominium security office allowed a landscape company to drop off a pallet of sod before 8 a.m. The man, who was awakened by the noise, told police the action violated the town’s noise ordinance. He also told police that a condominium employee tried to change a light bulb before 8 a.m.

Robbery attempt grounded
11:37 a.m. — 700 block of Hideaway Bay Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A man told police he noticed that his boat was sitting lower on its lift than usual. Police discovered that a lock was missing from the lift’s breaker box and an attempt had been made to steal the boat.

That’s not the ticket
3:44 p.m. — 6400 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A woman was arrested after refusing to cross the street and walk on the sidewalk instead of the bicycle lane. She told police, “This is America,” and she said she had every right to walk in the street if she wanted. Police disagreed and issued her a citation, which she ripped up.

Dec. 18
Monitor suspicious activity
9:06 a.m. — 1200 block of GMD. Larceny. A woman reported that someone stole her $1,000 computer from her bedroom closet. Possible suspects include her cleaning crew and a man she allowed to periodically enter her home to start her car.

Beware of dog
6:51 p.m. — 700 block of Lands End Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman called police to report that her neighbor’s home was not secure. Upon arrival, police noted the home’s garage door and front door were open. Police were unable to secure the home, however, because a dog would not allow police to enter the home. Police believe the owners forgot to close the garage door and a strong wind blew the unsecured door open.

Busted plumbing
8:59 a.m. — 6300 block of Gulfside Road. Property Damage. A woman reported that someone ran over her backflow-prevention device while trying to turn around at a nearby beach access. The water was turned off until repairs could be made.
