Check the North Pole
3 p.m. — 4200 block of Center Pointe Lane. Petit Theft. A 73-year-old woman said she put about 100 Christmas cards in her mailbox, and two hours later discovered they were missing. The Postal Service is investigating the theft.

Dec. 29
Good ol’ holiday fun
12:10 a.m. — 300 block of East Bay Street. Suspicious Incident. Three teenage girls were in a car with a male, whose age was not released. When the male saw a sheriff’s deputy, he threw a gun out of the car. The gun was found, and it was loaded. The male was arrested for drug possession. The three girls were not charged.

Fatal attraction
3 a.m. — 5000 block of Sandy Cove Avenue. Disturbance. A man met a woman at a bar and took her home with him. Shortly after getting there, the woman became violent, throwing things all through his house. He tried to get her to leave, but she refused. When a deputy arrived, the woman locked herself in the bathroom. The deputy demanded she come out, but she replied, “Come get me, &!*$%@.” She finally opened the door, but was holding a belt in her hand. The deputy pointed his Taser at her and told her to drop the belt. She did, and after several requests, she finally revealed where she lived. The deputy drove her there and left her to the care of her grandmother.

Time for traveler’s checks
8:30 a.m. — 6800 block of South Tamiami Trail. Grand Theft. A man, who took his luxury car to the dealership for service, said when he picked up the car, he noticed something was missing from the glove box. He had left $6,500 in $20 bills in there.

Digging for some answers
9:21 a.m. — 600 block of North Jefferson Avenue. Suspicious Incident. A woman called police, saying she found blood and a latex glove in a neighbor’s trash can. When an officer closely inspected the garbage can, he discovered that the substance was not blood — it was red fruit punch or juice. During the investigation, a different neighbor approached the officer and demanded to know what was happening. The officer told her that he was busy and would talk to her later. She refused to leave and again demanded information. The officer told her to step away. She allowed her dog to relieve itself at the scene before she left.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder
9:36 p.m. — 200 block of Barlow Avenue. Theft. A teenage girl said her roommate’s girlfriend, who lives out of town, stole $430 worth of clothing and other items from her closet. The girl said when she came home from work, she saw a note containing several vile insults inside her bedroom. She then looked in her closet and noticed the theft. Police were not immediately able to contact the girlfriend.

On the run
3:10 a.m. — Beach Road and Midnight Pass Road. Suspicious Incident. Deputies reported seeing three young Amish men walking down the road. When the men saw the deputies, they took off running. After being found, the men said they were walking home from a party and ran because they were afraid of curfew rules.
