Peterson, Johnston Smith named 2010 Developmental Coach of the Year

U.S. Figure Skating and the Professional Skaters Association recently named Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex’s Jim Peterson, Lyndon Johnston and Alison Smith as the 2010 Developmental Coach of the Year.

Peterson, Johnston and Smith are the coaches of U.S. Figure Skating gold medalists, Olympic pairs skaters and World team members Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett and U.S. Figure Skating silver medalists, Olympic pairs skaters and World team members Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig, who all train at the ice rink.

To be considered for Developmental Coach of the Year, a person must be actively coaching, meet appropriate United States Olympic Committee/National Governing Body professional coaching standards and have made a significant impact on athlete performances at a developmental level of competition during the 2009-10 season.

Peterson, Johnston and Smith were selected by a vote of members of the U.S. Figure Skating Coaches Committee and the PSA Board of Directors. Peterson, the head coach, previously won the award for his accomplishments in the 2008-09 season.
