June 3
Multiple offenses
10:35 a.m. — 5500 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a man for driving with a suspended driver’s license. When the driver was asked to get out of the car, he grabbed a blue bank bag. Police found a brass marijuana pipe inside the bag. The driver was arrested.

Rendezvous interrupted
12:19 a.m. — 6800 block of GMD. Trespassing. Two men were arrested for trespassing on a home construction site. They admitted to meeting online and meeting at the home to make out.

Property dispute
8:49 a.m. — 500 block of Schooner Lane. Suspicious Circumstance. Police stopped a man from taking his sister’s belongings out of her soon-to-be-ex-husband’s home. All parties agreed the belongings would be put back until the divorce was final and the assets were divided.

June 4
Patrol presence
9:53 a.m. — 7000 block of Longboat Drive North. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman called to report pry marks on her front door. Nothing was missing from her home, but she requested extra police patroling in the area.

That won’t fly
8:31 p.m. — 300 block of GMD. Trespassing. Police found two men fly fishing on a golf course and asked them to leave.

June 5
Level with me
12:47 a.m. — 700 block of St. Judes Drive North. Noise Disturbance. Police responded to a noise complaint but found that groups of people talking on a back porch were having a conversation at a normal volume level.

June 6
Keep moving
9:58 p.m. — 100 block of GMD. Public Service. Police found a man, unsteady on his feet, who appeared to be lost. He told police he became lost while attempting to visit Marina Jack.

To err is human …
1:43 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Civil Disturbance. A man reported he was grilling food on Beer Can Island when a dog approached him and tried to take the food. The man threw a hat at the dog to scare it off, and the dog’s owner approached him and warned him not to throw things at his pet. Both men were in the wrong and told having fires and dogs on the island was prohibited.

Swamp thing
7:15 p.m. — 500 block of Gunwale Lane. Code Enforcement. Police noticed a pool that had turned into a swamp from lack of maintenance and discovered the house was in foreclosure.

June 7
Exercise fanatics
1:22 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Ketch Lane. Suspicious Person. Police questioned two men who were riding bicycles late at night and sent them on their way after they explained they were exercising when it was cooler.

June 8
Raccoon bites woman
12:36 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Animal Bite. A woman called police to report she was bitten in the leg by a raccoon while walking in Joan M. Durante Park near the playground area. She suffered five puncture wounds to her left calf and was transported to the hospital for observations.

 

Smoldering look
3:33 p.m. — 4800 block of GMD. Brush Fire. Police assisted Longboat Key Fire Rescue in discovering the source of smoke. It was coming from some smoldering mulch on the side of a condominium building.
Suspicious men questioned

Suspicious men questioned

12:48 a.m. — 3300 block of GMD. Suspicious Vehicle. Police observed a car rapidly turn into a condominium parking lot and shut its lights off. When questioned, the three men in the car told police they got nervous that they were being followed by a police officer. A vehicle search of the car produced nothing suspicious, and the men were sent on their way after being warned not to trespass on private property.

Call me in the morning
1:01 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman called police to report that one of her co-workers leaned in to kiss her goodnight. She fell over backward when she tried to avoid the kiss. When demonstrating to police how the incident occurred, she fell over again. Police determined the woman was highly intoxicated and asked her to call them again in the morning when she was sober.

 

June 9
Rung out
2:46 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Larceny. A man reported that someone stole an $80 6-foot blue ladder from the side of a building.

Fishing fans
6:49 p.m. — 7000 block of Bayside Drive. Trespassing. A resident reported a man and a woman fishing on a private dock. When police asked the pair why they would jump a fence to fish off a dock that was marked private, they told police they heard the fishing was “really good” there. They were issued trespass warnings.

June 10
Stolen seats
9:30 p.m. — 700 block of Jungle Queen Way. Lost Property. A woman advised that three Adirondack chairs valued at $18 apiece were missing from her property.
