He’s a hero, memory-maker, comedian, storyteller and friend. The Sarasota Observer caught up with a group of kids at the Boys and Girls Club to chat about Father’s Day, which falls on Sunday, June 20. Here’s what they had to say about some of Sarasota’s special dads.

Isabella Sanguinetti, 5
What’s your favorite thing to do with your dad?
Go to Chuck E. Cheese! It was delicious last time, and I went on all the baby rides.

What makes your dad special?
He does special things — he tickles me and attacks me.

Alexia Sanguinetti, 8
What makes your dad special?
He’s pretty funny, and he teaches me German.

Are you giving your dad a gift?
Yes, a Harley motorcycle, a pocketknife like I always do and a card.

Bronson Shultis, 10
What is Father’s Day?
It’s a celebration of fathers all over the world and how they’ve been good or loved you. To me it really means a lot — it makes me remember the good times we’ve had.

Are you giving your dad a gift?
Usually I make him something at school. This year, my art teacher took a picture of me and then I made a drawing on paper, like poetry. I was thinking about all of our memories so I’m going to write “memories” at the top. We always go to my grandma’s house and have a nice dinner.

Daria Curley, 11
What is Father’s Day?
It’s a celebration of being with your family and, not only that, but your father and how good he’s been to you your whole life.

What makes your dad special?
He’s always there when I’m hurt and helps me with troubles in life.

How will you celebrate Father’s Day?
This year we’re going on a mini trip to water parks, swimming and shopping. I made him a card and I’m hoping to get him a new fishing rod.

Tyanna Denord, 8
What is Father’s Day?
It’s a day when you give your dad a present because you love him.

What makes your dad special?
He’s the best dad because he’s nice and gives me good hugs. I’m making him a card with lots of hearts and going to draw me and my dad on it.

What’s your favorite memory of you and your dad?
One time, we went to the fair together, and I got pizza and saw the seals.

Brandon Bishop, 12
What is Father’s Day?
To me, it’s a day we celebrate my father, how much I love my dad and how great he is.

What’s your favorite memory of you and your dad?
The first time he took me on the golf course. It was fun, but every time I made a mistake, dad would be like a drill sergeant.

How will you celebrate Father’s Day?
My dad is really into the ‘Karate Kid’ movies, so we are going to see the new one. He is also going golfing, so, hopefully, we will get him a new club and then have his favorite meal, steak.

Courtney Hall, 13
What’s your favorite activity to do with your dad?
I have two dads. I like to go four-wheeling with my dad because we get dirty, muddy, fall off and my dad laughs. My step-dad is funny and fun to be around.

If you had millions of dollars, what would you get your dad for Father’s Day?
I would buy both my dad and step-dad fancy yachts.

How will you celebrate Father’s Day?
We’re moving this weekend, so we’ll go to church, fishing or to the beach and have dinner.
