The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.
Lakewood Ranch High School senior Reggie Lindsey went 5-for-8 at the plate during the Mustangs’ doubleheader of the 2010 Sarasota Summer Slam June 20. The Mustangs outfielder notched seven RBIs and scored three runs in Lakewood’s win over Venice and loss to Post 24. Lindsey finished the five-game tournament with a pair of doubles, a triple and a handful of singles. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.
What do you enjoy the most about baseball?
Probably hitting. I like the way the ball comes off of the bat. I also like to run and try and catch the ball.
Do your prefer baseball or football?
Baseball. I just grew up playing it. I started when I was about 3 years old, and I’ve never stopped playing.
Who is your favorite baseball player?
Carlos Beltran. They say he’s a five-tool player, and he’s just an all-around good player.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A professional baseball player.
Do you have any siblings?
I have an older sister, Breana, 19, who just graduated.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Italy. I like Italian food.
What do you like to do when you aren’t playing sports?
I like to hang out with my friends, lift weights and play video games.
What’s your favorite college football team?
Miami. I just grew up liking them.
What’s your favorite food?
Pepperoni pizza.
What’s your favorite subject in school?
Math. It comes really easy to me.
What’s your favorite movie?
“Friday.” It’s an older movie, but it’s really funny.
