10:56 a.m. — 2200 Browning Street. Suspicious Incident. A teenager told police that an unknown person sent her an instant message and asked her to pose nude on her webcam.

Crime of passion
9:45 a.m. — 500 block of Burns Court. Criminal Mischief. A business owner began his workweek by discovering his business sign and front window were defaced with red lipstick. The vandal wrote the name of one of the business’ employees on the window and surrounded it with drawings of lips and hearts and some vulgarity. “It appeared that the perpetrator has a liking for (the employee),” the police report stated.

VIP parking
1:26 p.m. — 1300 block of Main Street. Illegal Parking. A driver apparently couldn’t be bothered by such things such as road construction, because he moved a cone to park in a space in a construction zone.

Lead foot
5:14 a.m. — 2300 block of Hillview Street. Suspicious Person. An apartment dweller said his upstairs neighbor keeps going up and down the stairs too loudly.

Carry out service
8 a.m. — 1900 block of South Osprey Avenue. Theft. A supermarket owner told police that he believed a former employee had been stealing from him. The employee was in charge of the store’s catering business. The owner said a client called and requested an order exactly like one she made eight months earlier, when the former employee was still there. The new catering employee was unable to find the information in the computer and became suspicious. The new employee believes that the former one collected at least $3,700 from catering events and pocketed the money.

Forging Miss Daisy
10:22 a.m. — 1500 block of Ringling Boulevard. Forgery. A bank teller became suspicious when two people in the drive-thru tried to cash a check. One woman was driving and another woman, who was wearing a large hat, was in the back seat. The pair wanted to receive $1,500 cash back from a $3,100 deposit. They handed over an ID with the check, but it was for a woman who was born in 1928. Even though the woman in the back was wearing a large hat, the teller could see that she wasn’t 82 years old. The teller asked her to remove the hat, so she could compare faces, and the woman said, “Well, I didn’t say that was me.” They left without receiving any money. Police called the real owner of the check and ID who said she had recently been the victim of a theft.

2:43 a.m. — 10 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive. Illegal Fishing. A boat was anchored under a bridge, and the three men aboard it were fishing for snook out of season.
