The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
CHRISTIAN RETREAT
Feb. 19
7 p.m. — 900 block of Faith Circle East. Grand theft. The victim reportedly loaned a computer to a white male two weeks ago, and it has yet to be returned. The victim allowed the suspect to stay with him for the weekend. The suspect decided to leave around 9 p.m. When the victim opened his safe the following morning, he noticed $1,700 cash was missing.
COOPER CREEK
Feb. 16
1:30 p.m. — 7800 block of Cooper Creek Boulevard. Criminal mischief. The complainant reported someone drove in circles on the grass. He estimated the cost to replace the damaged sod to be between $600 and $800. There are no known suspects or witnesses.
HERITAGE HARBOUR
Feb. 18
6 p.m. — 8200 block of Haven Harbour Way. Criminal mischief. The victim reported more damage had been done to his vehicle. The estimated cost of the damage is $2,000.
SUMMERFIELD
Feb. 17
6 p.m. — 6200 block of Tupelo Trail. Burglary to a vehicle. The suspect(s) broke the rear window of the victim’s vehicle and removed a tool bag. The subjects then fled the scene. The bag was found about four blocks away; nothing was missing.
Feb. 18
7:30 p.m. — 11900 block of Winding Woods Way. Suspicious circumstance. An unknown male knocked on the front door of the complainant’s residence. He rang the doorbell, knocked on the door and stated, “Is anyone home?” The complainant was home alone and did not go to the door. She then heard a noise on the back patio and saw the male knocking on the window inside the patio. The complainant grabbed the phone, ran into the bathroom and called a neighbor down the street, who came and picked her up until her mother got home.
OTHER
Feb. 18
1 p.m. — 4900 block of 53rd Avenue East. Stolen bike. The complainant reported her bike was stolen. She stated she didn’t see any suspicious person(s) in the area or see anyone take her bike. The total value of the bike is $299.
1:45 p.m. — 6717 S.R. 70 E. (Cortez Car Wash II). Grand theft. The victim reported an unknown person stole $360 from his vehicle while it was dropped off at the car wash.
Reported Feb. 18
9:15 a.m. — 7300 block of Edenville Drive. Criminal mischief. The complainant reported a hole was created in the vinyl fence in his backyard sometime during the past two weeks. He stated he believes it was caused by a bullet hole, possibly 9mm, possibly shot by the neighbors who live behind him. The complainant hasn’t seen anyone suspicious in the area, didn’t hear a gunshot and didn’t see his neighbors with a gun. The total cost of the damage is $100.
Feb. 19
10:45 a.m. — 8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Retail theft. The suspect took beer valued at $16.97, proceeded to pass all points of sale and exited the store without paying for the beer. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Manatee County Jail.
2 p.m. — 6225 S.R. 64 E. (Wal-Mart). Retail theft. The suspect entered the store and selected items that were for sale. He was then observed using old receipts and selecting items that were on those receipts. He then placed the items into Wal-Mart bags he had brought with him and exited the store. Loss prevention approached the suspect and escorted him back to the loss prevention office.
