Feb. 17
Boat repo
12:57 p.m. — 2600 block of Harbourside Drive. Vehicle Repossession. A company called the police department to report that it was repossessing a 45-foot boat from the Longboat Key Moorings Marina.

Helping hand
7:42 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Rescue. Police assisted a woman who fell near her car in the Avenue of the Flowers parking lot. She was treated by firefighter/paramedics for cuts on her finger and lips and accepted a ride home.

Feb. 18
On guard
7:15 p.m. — 600 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Property Damage. A woman called police to report that a man who drove through the guard gate at The Bayou in Bay Isles became verbally abusive when she followed him to write down his license-plate information. Police contacted the security guard, who told police he was aware who drove through the gate and that the gate would be repaired. The security guard says that residents drive through the gate all the time.

Tag, you’re it
8:58 a.m. — 600 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Suspicious Vehicle. A security guard called police to report that a man had been parked near the guardhouse for more than an hour. Police made contact with the man, who told police he was waiting for someone so that they could go to a business meeting. The man arrived, but police discovered the driver had a tag from a Cadillac placed on his Chrysler convertible.

Permits for protest
4:26 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road. Trespassing. The postmaster called to report that a couple was outside the Longboat Key Post Office protesting the current president of the United States. The couple was given a copy of the town code that states a permit needs to be obtained to protest the president.

Brotherly love
10:30 p.m. — 1000 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Disturbance. A man called police to report that he had gotten into an argument with his brother, with whom he was staying. He asked police to oversee his return to his brother’s house so he could retrieve his belongings. It turns out his brother wasn’t home, but he had left his brother’s belongings on the porch.

Feb. 19
Night-light questioned
1:38 a.m. — 500 block of Sutton Place. Security Check. A woman called police to report there was a light on inside her home that she did not remember turning on before she left the house. Police checked out her home before she entered it and deemed it safe.

Feb. 20
Won’t you be my neighbor?
5:17 p.m. — 600 block of Buttonwood Drive. Disturbance. The president of a homeowners association told police that a neighbor yelled profanities at him while he was washing his car near the community’s boat-ramp area. The neighbor denied yelling at the president, but admitted to being involved in a neighborhood dispute over homeowner-association issues. The two neighbors were advised to stay away from each other.

Ex-factor
7:11 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. The former girlfriend of a Longboat Key Police Department employee came to the police department to report that her former boyfriend had taken possessions out of a condominium that belonged to her. No further action was taken.

Feb. 22
Speedster arrested
1:28 a.m. — Intersection of Cutter Lane and GMD. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a man for driving more than 60 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. The man produced a Mexican identification card and told police he didn’t have a driver’s license. It was discovered, however, that he had a lengthy driving suspension record, and he was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Weapon release
10:03 a.m. — 3300 block of Bayou Road. Recovered Property. A man turned seven guns to police that belonged to his brother-in-law, who was terminally ill.

Delivery disturbance
3:56 a.m. — 3900 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman called police to report that someone was trying to knock down her garage door and enter her home. Police checked the home and found nothing out of place and no signs of anyone. Police advised the woman that the noise she heard was most likely a truck dropping its tailgate next door to unload materials for the local hardware store.

Moving target
10:31 a.m. — 5600 block of GMD. Found Property. A man turned in a laptop computer that had fallen off the hood of a moving sport utility vehicle the night before. The computer was returned to its owner.
