The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.

Lakewood Ranch junior pitcher Brittany Kilduff pitched a no-hitter March 2 to lead the visiting Lady Mustangs to a 16-0 victory over Palmetto. Kilduff followed up her complete game by pitching three innings in Lakewood’s 9-4 victory over Seminole Osceola March 5.

Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What do you enjoy the most about pitching?
I enjoy just being out there. When I’m on the mound, I know that I have an entire field behind me. I know that if I miss my mark, they’ll always be behind me to back me up. It’s a real confidence-booster.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Either some type of psychologist or a physical therapist — something to do with sports medicine.

Have you ever broken any bones?
Yes. I’ve broken my nose, my thumb and my left arm. I’ve fractured both of my pinkies twice, and I’ve sprained my left ankle twice.

What do you like to do when you aren’t playing softball?
I like to hang out with my friends, go to church and go to the beach.

What is your favorite subject?
Psychology. It’s a different type of learning. It’s not just your basic math or science. It allows you to think outside of the box a little and explore different areas of the mind and body.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Puerto Rico. It’s so vast in its landscape and diverse not just in its culture but in nature as well. They also have surfing competitions, which I would love to see.

What’s your favorite movie?
“A League of Their Own.” I’ve been watching it ever since I was little. My mom used to put it on for me when I was sick.
