BASEBALL

The Out-of-Door Academy 6, Northside Christian School 4

Scooter Friss pitched a complete game for the Thunder, striking out seven and walking two.

Jimmy Kuebler had two hits and an RBI; Sean Fleeman had two hits and a stolen base; and Jake Foss had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Braden River 3, Manatee 0

Senior Trisha Zuknick and freshmen Hannah Loyer and Courtney Mirabella combined for the shutout, allowing one hit and four walks while striking out nine.

Loyer went 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI and Mirabella went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the way for the Lady Pirates at the plate. Zuknick went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Lauren Powell went 1-for-2 with a run scored; and Nicole Tira went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Lakewood Ranch 4, Academy of the Holy Name 0

Brittany Kilduff earned the win for the Lady Mustangs, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out four in four innings of work. Huntyre Elling pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing two hits while striking out two.

Sarah Burnett went 1-for-2 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Corey Hanewich went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the way for Lakewood at the plate. Kayla Schappacher went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Dana Hutchins went 1-for-2 with an RBI; and Taylor Newton went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

TRACK AND FIELD

The Lakewood Ranch High girls track team scored 100 points to win the Sarasota Booker Tornado Invitational March 10. ODA scored 17 points for ninth place and Braden River scored 10 points for 10th place.

The Lakewood Ranch High boys team tied with Manatee for fifth place followed by Braden River (12th place) and ODA (14th place).

Top individual performers include: Lakewood’s Leah Wierichs (100-meter hurdles), the girls 3,200 relay, Alice Assenza (300 hurdles), Olivia Ortiz (3,200) and the girls 1,600 relay.

Braden River’s Jillian Koenig finished third in the pole vault to lead the way for the Lady Pirates. Octavious Washington finished second in the 400 to lead the way for the Mustangs.

Huntyre Elling earned the win, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out five.

Carey Hanewich went 3-for-4 with the a double, a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored; and Taylor Newton went 3-for-4 with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the way for the Lady Mustangs at the plate.

Dana Hutchins went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Jenn Trotter went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored; and Becca Slowik went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
