The Lady Mustangs scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge past Braden River in a key district matchup.

Huntyre Elling earned the win for Lakewood, allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven. Courtney Mirabella pitched a complete game for the Lady Pirates, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two and walking two.

Hannah Loyer hit a homerun in the top of the sixth inning to give Braden River a 1-0 lead. Lakewood’s Sarah Burnett notched a hit in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving the Lady Mustangs a 2-1 lead.

Katherine Pyne, Alyssa Corcoran, Sammi Aiezza and Kaizzelle Tatualla each earned singles victories for the Lady Mustangs. Pyne and Corcoran and Aiezza and Lindsey Rechcigl were victorious at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.

ODA 4, St. Stephen’s 3
Caroline Dailey, Jinny Rostarchuk and Michelle van Dalen each earned singles victories for the Lady Thunder while Dailey and Michelle Ramos were victorious at No. 1 doubles.

TRACK AND FIELD
The ODA girls track team scored 26 points to finish seventh at the Sarasota County Championships at Booker High School. The boys team also finished seventh with 18 points.

Brian Ragone finished fourth in the 300-meter-hurdles (44.26), Julia Bellanger finished third in the 1,600 (5:40.68), and Alana Rogers finished fifth in the 400 (1:04.91) to lead the way for ODA.

Braden River 17, Dixie Hollins 0
The Lady Pirates tallied 24 hits on their way to their fourth district win.

Courtney Mirabella pitched a complete game for Braden River, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out 13.

Hannah Loyer went 2-for-2 with two doubles, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored; and Jessica Cadorette went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Melissa Malanczuk went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Ashley Loyer went 3-for-5 with two infield homeruns, four RBIs and three runs scored; and Lauren Powell went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Plant 8, Lakewood Ranch 5
The Lady Mustangs finished as the consolation champions in their bracket of the Spring Fling Tournament at Fishhawk, winning three of their four games.

Rachel Slowik went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored; and Dana Hutchins went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the way for Lakewood at the plate. Corey Hanewich went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Lakewood 11, Alonso 0
Brittany Kilduff pitched a complete game shutout for the Lady Mustangs.

Corey Hanewich went 3-for-5 with a triple, a homerun, two RBIs and three runs scored; and Sarah Burnett went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored to lead the way for Lakewood at the plate.

Brittany Kilduff earned the win in relief, allowing three runs on five hits.

Stacie Nelson went 2-for-3 with her first career homerun, three RBIs and a run scored, and Jenn Trotter went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
