Lawton “Bud” Chiles, president of the Lawton Chiles Foundation, is carrying on a family tradition of walking, by following in the footsteps of his late father, Gov. “Walkin’ Lawton” Chiles, by taking 1 million steps for Florida’s kids.

He is walking 1 million steps — nearly 600 miles — around Florida to collect pledges in support of the foundation’s Worst to First initiative to improve investments in children’s health and education.
Chiles visited Sarasota Tuesday, March 30, and made his final stop of the day at Girls Inc., taking a shopping tour through the girls’ MicroSociety and informing them about his Worst to First campaign.
