The Lakewood Ranch Lightning varsity lacrosse team finished the season a perfect 12-0 and won the Sunshine State Lacrosse Conference Championship May 1, defeating the Wesley Chapel Warriors 11-7.
Lakewood Ranch High senior Doug Snell led the way for the Lightning with four goals. Tyler Schroer netted two goals and two assists and Jake Murnane had two goals and four ground balls. John Tomasso had one goal and two assists; and Sage Delisser and Lee Fuller each scored a goal. Will Pilkington had three ground balls.
Venice senior Jordan Fishman was named the game’s MVP as well as the conference’s defensive Player of the Year. Lakewood junior Tyler Schroer was named the attack Player of the Year and Snell was named the middle Player of the Year.
