Ashley Allard hit a two-run double with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win for Braden River.
Hannah Loyer pitched a complete for the Lady Pirates, allowing one run on five hits while striking out 10.

BOYS TENNIS
After narrowly missing the state finals a year ago, the Lakewood Ranch High boys tennis team made a statement this season, finishing second with eight points at the Class 3A state finals
Sophomore Arnav Mohanty captured the No. 3 individual singles title with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Hillsborough’s Alexander Peckham. In No. 1 doubles, Mohanty and senior Cooper Maxwell lost in the finals to Brett Clark and Alex Robles of Naples Barron Collier 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
GIRLS TENNIS
The Lakewood Ranch High girls team finished fifth at the Class 3A state finals. The No. 2 doubles team of Sammi Aiezza and Lindsey Rechcigl lost in the semifinals to Tallahassee Leon’s Angela Caspary and Megan Kolman 6-3, 6-0.
TRACK AND FIELD
The Lakewood Ranch High girls track team scored 57 points to finish second at the Class 3A-Region 3 meet at Charlotte High School.
The Lady Mustangs qualified in five events for the state finals. Kristen Zarrella and Olivia Ortiz finished second and third, respectively, in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs. Natalie Novak finished second in the 800-meter run.
Ortiz and Novak, along with Devin McDermott and Ashley Platt, finished second in the 3,200-meter relay while Zarella anchored the Lady Mustangs’ 1,600-meter relay, which also included Sarah and Kaitlyn Wolfe and Kristin Hagaman, to a third-place finish.
Braden River’s Jill Koenig finished second in the pole vault.

Freshman Brett Hanewich hit a two-run home run as the visiting Mustangs finished as the Class 4A-District 10 runners-up.
SOFTBALL
Lakewood Ranch 11, Braden River 6
Senior Rachel Slowik hit two two-run home runs and a pair of doubles and finished with five RBIs to help lead the Lady Mustangs overcome a four-run deficit and advance to the regional finals for the first time in school history.
