Sarasota real estate sales hit five-year high

April’s property sales in Sarasota reached their highest point in nearly five years. Pending sales were the highest in four years.

The monthly total of 757 sales were 50% higher than April 2009 and the most since December 2005.

The median sales price for homes in April was $165,000, which was up a modest 3% from a year ago.
Condo sales rose 6%, from $182,750 in April 2009 to $193,975 last month.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm and optimism among local real estate agents that the trend will sustain in the months to come,” said Erick Shumway, Sarasota Association of Realtors president.
