Platt received several verbal scholarship offers and invitations to tryout for teams, but chose attend Florida State College at Jacksonville because of the longevity of the coaching staff, the fact the coaches were former professional pitchers and the program’s indoor pitching and hitting facility, his father Richard Platt said.
