+ Lightning wrap up perfect season
The Lakewood Ranch Lightning varsity lacrosse team finished the season a perfect 12-0 and won the Sunshine State Lacrosse Conference Championship May 1, defeating the Wesley Chapel Warriors 11-7.

Lakewood Ranch senior Doug Snell led the way for the Lightning with four goals. Tyler Schroer netted two goals and two assists, and Jake Murnane had two goals and four ground balls. John Tomasso had one goal and two assists; and Sage Delisser and Lee Fuller each scored a goal. Will Pilkington had three ground balls.

Venice senior Jordan Fishman was named the game’s MVP as well as the conference’s defensive Player of the Year. Schroer was named the attack Player of the Year, and Snell was named the middle Player of the Year.

+ Mustangs seek baseball players
The Lakewood Ranch High baseball team will hold tryouts for its Mustang Baseball Club Team at 4:30 p.m., May 20-21 at the school. Current eighth-graders who will be attending Lakewood in the fall are invited to tryout.

+ Lakewood gears up for baseball camp
The Mustang Baseball Club, Inc. will host its third annual Mustang Baseball Camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 21-25 and July 12-16.

The Lakewood Ranch High baseball coaching staff and select varsity players will teach basic baseball fundamentals, including hitting, pitching, base running, fielding and throwing.

The camp, open to anyone ages 6-14, is $125 per session. Water will be provided, but campers are required to bring their own lunch. A lunch of a hotdog, chips and a drink will be available for $4.
