Yes, the colors of the lifeguard towers on Siesta Key Public Beach do hold some sort of significance — to the lifeguards, at least.

Red is commonly called “meet and greet” for the younger crowd that gathers around it. Green is known as the “family-oriented” tower because of its plethora of parents, youngsters and sandcastles. Yellow is referred to as the “U.N.” tower because of its cultural diversity. And the blue tower is known as “the geriatric tower” for, well, obvious reasons.
