SCF Manatees Volleyball wins conference honors

The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Manatees volleyball team won individual conference honors after winning the 2010 Suncoast Conference Championship.

Aurora Newgard was named this year’s Player of the Year and FCCAA All-Conference First Team outside hitter while coach Carmine Garofalo was named the 2010 Coach of the Year.

Other SCF Manatees conference awards include: Lacey Blackman, FCCAA All-Conference First Team middle blocker, Natalie Gaudreau, FCCAA All-Conference First Team outside hitter, Sarah Geraldson, FCCAA All-Conference First Team setter; and Emily Strack, FCCAA All-Conference Second Team opposite hitter.

The SCF Manatees finished the conference season with an 8-0 record. The team advanced to the state tournament Nov. 4-6 at Polk State College where it finished as the Gulf District Runner-Up.
