Credit check
3 p.m. — 1000 block of South Tuttle Avenue. Theft. The owner of a medical office suspected an employee was embezzling from her. She discovered someone had refunded money onto credit cards, which is something that she said she never does. There were three credits and refunds on three different dates, ranging from $145 to $300. It just so happened that on those three dates, the employee left work early, because of some personal business. The owner said as soon as the worker returned from vacation, she would be fired.

Nov. 2
Time to move out
9:30 a.m. — 2100 block of Grove St. Harassing Phone Calls. A tenant said her landlord had been leaving her threatening messages. The tenant had been withholding rent, until the landlord fixed some problems, such as a raw sewage leak. An officer listened to one of the messages in which the landlord used profanity and said he was bringing some people over to force the tenant out of the home. The officer left his own message with the landlord to call him. The landlord has yet to return that call.

Doc-u-drama
11:13 a.m. — 1900 block of Waldemere Street. Harassing Phone Calls. A doctor reported that one of his patients, who happens to also be a doctor, has been making threatening calls and sending text messages that threaten the victim with legal action to decertify him as a doctor. The victim stated the suspect is addicted to pain medication and is obsessed with the belief that the victim had an affair with the suspect’s ex-wife. The victim said that never happened.

Give me a ring
11:54 a.m. — 3600 block of Meridale Road. Grand Theft. An elderly woman called 911 to report her $7,000 emerald-and-diamond ring had been stolen from her home. She last saw it on the ring holder on her kitchen counter. The woman said the thief could be a man hired to do yard work or appliance-center workers, who had been inside her home several times.

Breath of fresh air
4:13 p.m. — 2200 block of Ringling Boulevard. Disorderly Intoxication. An officer came across a drunk man lying on the ground. The man spoke slowly and was unable to stand. But it was not beer, wine or liquor that the man had consumed. The officer discovered the man was intoxicated from Listerine, which was determined from his fresh breath and the half-empty mouthwash bottle in his backpack.

Act your age
1:25 a.m. — Bayfront Park. Disorderly Conduct. A caller told dispatch that several people were damaging a children’s playground. Officers arrived and saw three young men, 18 to 20 years old, at the playground. They told the officers that they had been running through the play area, but the officers saw no damage, reminded them that the park closes at midnight and sent them on their way.
